Cool Combo: Chambray + Bright

You know those outfit ideas that you love so much that you just want to share them with e-v-e-r-yone? This is one of those looks for me. This outfit idea involves the amazing combo of a chambray shirt and bright jeans.

It's sort of like an updated version of the denim on denim trend. And, of course, ideal for those in-between spring temperatures.

Here's my budget-friendly take on the cool combo of chambray + bright:

Floral Pants: Look for Less

I've been spotting floral denim and trousers all over Anthropologie and Shopbop's websites lately. And I really liked how these pants looked.

But I wasn't totally convinced that I needed a pair until I saw this post on Gal Meets Glam.

In my opinion, Julia of Gal Meets Glam really can do no wrong when it comes to her daily outfit choices. She is rockin' this impressive pair of floral trousers from Anthro.

As great as these pants are, $118.00 just ain't cutting it for a cheap girl like me. With the help of my favorite fashion search tool ShopStyle, I found an exceptionally similar pair of denim pants for a much more bearable price. Pretty enticing, no?

Mint-sanity

Yes, you read that title correctly. It's Mint-sanity, not "Linsanity." This blog is about fashion, people, not basketball. You should know better ;)

While I've been on board with the mint trend for a while now, it seems as though this color is really dominating the fashion world for Spring 2012. I am in no means disappointed. This fresh shade of blue-green is easily one of  my favorite colors. And I am kind of overly excited to color block it with other pastels once the spring months arrive.

All of these inexpensive mint pieces have been added to my wardrobe wishlist for the spring.

Budget Friendly Beauty Buys

As much as I enjoy shopping for new clothes, I also love picking out makeup and beauty items. Sephora is definitely my go-to place when looking for new makeup. The selection there is pretty incomparable and I am always lookin' to rake in those Beauty Insider points ;)

But there are certain items that I just cannot justify spending a lot of money on cosmetics. Thank goodness that there are products out in the beauty world that I love just as much as more expensive items.

Here are some of my cheap and chic, budget-friendly beauty buys:
e.l.f. is known for their super cheap and great quality beauty products. This palette is no exception. It boasts 100 eyeshadows for $10.00, making each shade only $.10. I really enjoy the variety of shades and oftentimes use this product when I am trying to imitate a look I've seen on a youtube makeup tutorial video.
Ardell False Eyelashes Strip - Fashion Black (#110).Opens in a new window
Ardell lashes are constanlty talked about by beauty professionals and celebrity makeup artists as their go-to false lashes. I own a few pairs and have used each more than three times. They have held up perfectly. My favorite pair is the 135, which has a little flair on the end, but isn't too dramatic.
I have tried just about every drugstore gel eyeliner, and this is, without a doubt, the best one. It's part of Sonia Kashuk's beauty line for Target. I have tried this liner in both the brown and black color, and definitely lasts all day.
up & up™ Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes 30-pk..Opens in a new window
The first time I bought these wipes, they were an impulse buy when I couldn't find my previous favorite Garnier Nutritioniste wipes. Now I feel the need to stock up on these whenever I go to Target. I am kind of lazy when it comes to taking off my makeup, and prefer to use a simple wipe rather than a makeup removing cleanser. One problem with using wipes is that they can be pricey. But not these babies! These are honestly the best makeup wipes I have ever used, and the best price I have found! You can find the $1.00 pack in the travel sized section of cosmetics.
I haven't tried a large amount of top coats, but I can tell you that this one works way better than OPI's top coat. I am crazy about this one so much as of late (I even tweeted about it). This makes my nails super shiny and ensures that my manicure lasts a whole week without chipping - a miracle, in my opinion.
I actually got this product in my Christmas stocking this past holiday season. I hadn't really been using a heat protectant very often before then, but I thought I'd give this one a whirl. I use this after I've blow dried my hair and immediately before I straighten it. And it really does make my hair super smooth. No more dry and coarse hair after flat ironing for me!

Do any of my readers use these products? If you decide to try out any of my budget friendly beauty buys, let me know how you like them!

Cheap & Chic: Gym Bags

As of late, I've been on the hunt for the perfect gym bag.

I normally carry a small cross body purse to the gym that hasn't been very sufficient. I want to be able to walk into the gym without holding a coat and a water bottle in my hands because my purse is too darn small to carry them. At the same time, I don't need anything too big and bulky.

Of course, I want a fancy that's girly and feminine, like me. But I also prefer to carry something that says "I'm not here to look pretty, I'm here to get my sweat on." And as always, I want something that's affordable.

I thought I'd share with you a few of the bags that I've found along the way that seem to fit my criteria.

White Hot Target Home

I am completely smitten with sleek and white home decor, as evidenced by my home decor pinterest board. In my quest for some white hot home items, I came across Target's latest decor pieces. The prices are, of course, incredible. And the pieces range from modern to feminine.

I can't wait to pick up some of these pieces for my soon-to-be home. These white pieces will look great with pops of gold and silver in my living room!

Here are some of my favorites:

"Pink"-ing of Blazers

A wardrobe must-have for spring is the pink blazer. This perfectly polished piece is the perfect example of menswear meets femininity. And for those who find themselves constantly wearing black or neutrals, it is a great way to add color to their wardrobe.

Just check out how chic they look, styled  three very different ways.

Forever 21 has an incredible assortment of pink blazers right now, all under $30. Here are some of my favorites.
(I especially love the red and pink color combo of this one, perfect for February.)

February Worthy Accessories

Whew, it sure has been a while since I wrote a post. (A while meaning 2 1/2 months).
Now this is normally where I get too embarrassed to keep typing a blog entry because I haven't updated so long. But something about the start of a fresh month and the colors pink and red are calling me back to blogging.

As you well know, February is known as love month, as we celebrate love day on the 14th. Some of us cringe when we spot heart decorations or conversation hearts. Others love the festivity and sometimes cheesy notions of the holiday.

Whichever category you may fall into, you are definitely going to lust after at least one of these adorable February worthy accessories.

(I'm particularly sweet on those hot pink ballet flats as the brights trend keeps going strong.)

Faux Under $50

image via small shop

I'm always about finding new ways stay warm. Especially when you feel like you're stuck wearing that same winter coat every day. That's why I'm super glad that the faux fur trend made its way back into fashion again this year.

I also love the faux fur trend for the touch of class it lends to otherwise commonplace accessories.

You knew I wouldn't let you get away without seeing my favorite budget-friendly items for this trend, did you?

Trend to Try - Polka Dots

If there's any trend that you should take a chance to try this season, it should surely be polka dots.

Oftentimes, people view polka dots as more retro and quirky and assume the print does not fit in with their personal style. But polka dots come in so many shades and varieties that I believe there is at least one polka dot piece out there suited for any girl's wardrobe.

Here are some of my favorite affordable polka dot items (with a little Kate Spade thrown in there because she is, of course, the queen of polka dots).
